About the artist

Under the alter ego ‘your reporter on the spot’, Ger-Jan Kooren, in his projects and ‘expressions’, gives seemingly insignificant details the limelight with a sense of friendly wonder. He calls this ‘the peculiarities and details of everyday life’.

His work is preferably displayed or performed in public spaces and is deliberately accessible, in an effort not to preach solely to his own bubble. It also interacts with its surroundings, or makes the surroundings part of the work. A journalist once wrote: “Exhibiting is not really the right word for Kooren’s work. That is because he always intervenes in public space.”
