Dordrecht ready for the storm season — Festival Voor de Vloed 2025

Festival heart of Festival Voor de Vloed 2025

From 20 September to 1 October, the centre of Dordrecht hosts Festival Voor de Vloed for the third time. With festivities on Het Hof, street theatre, the Hoog & Droog attic route and the Redders van Dordt Vloedcamp, the city makes its final preparations for the storm season.

From 20 September to 1 October, the centre of Dordrecht hosts Festival Voor de Vloed for the third time. With festivities on Het Hof, street theatre, excursions, the Hoog & Droog attic route and the Redders van Dordt Vloedcamp, the city makes its final preparations for the storm season — and celebrates that Dordrecht is ready for the storm season starting on 1 October.

"The people of Dordrecht have a special relationship with water — coming home means crossing the river, the water that connects us but also threatens us. Yet we quickly forget that we live on an island. With Festival Voor de Vloed we bring living with water back into the city and count down the final days to the start of the storm season."
— Wouter Sieuwerts, artistic director of Festival Voor de Vloed

High and dry in the attic

The festival kicks off on Saturday 20 September with the Hoog & Droog attic route: experience what it is like to shelter during a flood, without light and without electricity. Several prominent Dordrecht buildings, such as the town hall and the Statenschool, open their attics for special cultural experiences.

A large part of the activities is free to visit.
